Independent Contractor vs. Employee:  What the Self-Employed Need to Know and the IRS Wants to Know

NJAWBO Member and Lawyer, Jacqueline Crosby will be presenting the in's and out's, do's and don'ts of working with Independent Contractors. You might think that you don't have to do much with Independent Contractors, BUT there are some rules.

  • Are you following all of the rules in hiring Independent Contractors?
  • Do you know what an Independent Contractor is?
  • Are you ready to expand but are unsure of how to go about bringing in an Independent Contractor?

Do you know the difference between an independent contractor and employee?  Not knowing can result in potential legal problems and even IRS fines.

Learn the critical elements of independent contractor status and 1099 forms to protect your rights and make sure  your business practices comply with the law.

Whether you are self-employed performing services for another business or are a business owner needing hired help, this dinner presentation will help you clarify the legal status of your business relationships and teach you the steps your business should take to avoid misclassification problems.
